Just a quick post to say how blinking easy it easy to make marzipan for all you marzipan lovers out there. Unfortunately I got so carried away because it is so easy to make Marzipan that I only took three photos….one at the beginning and two at the end. DOH. But here’s a short breakdown of what to do anyway 🙂
Firstly the Ingredients ^_^
- 3oz of Caster sugar
- 3oz Icing sugar
- 6oz Ground almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 egg beaten
- A few drops of almond essence
First take all the dry ingredients – sugar, icing sugar and almonds and mix them together. Then take another bowl/jug and beat the egg, lemon juice and almond essence together. Make a hole in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the egg a little bit at a time until it starts to stick together well and you can form it into a ball.
You now have marzipan. If like me you like it to be perfect though, the next stage is to take the ball and put it on the bench. Cover the bench, the ball and a rolling pin in icing sugar and roll out the marzipan repeatedly, folding it back over itself again and again until the consistency is smoother and it’s less sticky. Hey Presto you have some marzipan – all ready to roll over a cake, make into sweets or else just nibble at like I do 😛
